Frequently Asked Questions

What is bamboo salt?

Bamboo salt (Jukyeom) is a traditional salt made by packing sea salt into bamboo trunks and roasting them in pine wood-fired metal furnaces, repeated up to 9 times, using ancient Korean techniques. Temperatures increase with each cycle, reaching up to 1,500°C in the final stage for our Signature 9X. The process infuses the salt with minerals from bamboo, pine resin, and clay.

How is bamboo salt different from regular salt?

Bamboo salt is naturally rich in trace minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium, and has an alkaline mineral profile. The multi-stage roasting process is distinct from the refining used for regular table salt. See our lab reports for the tested values of each roast.

Which roast level should I choose?

1X Mild is a gentle everyday salt, 3X Classic adds a rounded, savory depth, 6X Premium has a bolder smoky character, and 9X Signature is our most intensive roast. See Shop to compare them side by side.

Is the colour or texture different between packs?

Yes, slightly. Our salt is roasted by hand in small batches, so colour, crystal size and aroma can vary from batch to batch. This is natural and not a defect.

How should I use bamboo salt?

Use it just like regular salt — in cooking, seasoning, or baking. Its rich mineral profile and umami character make it a versatile finishing and everyday salt.

What are the traditional wellness uses?

Bamboo salt has a long history of traditional use in Korean wellness practices — including digestive comfort, oral care routines, and everyday mineral intake. These are traditional associations, not medical claims. Bamboo salt is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. See our Traditional Wellness Uses page for details.

Is bamboo salt suitable for high blood pressure patients?

Bamboo salt contains sodium. Please consult your doctor before making any dietary changes, especially if you're managing a health condition like high blood pressure or a kidney condition, or are pregnant. We're not able to advise on suitability for specific medical conditions.

How should I store bamboo salt?

Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, with the lid or pouch tightly closed to help prevent clumping.
